When you're juggling multiple clients or projects throughout your day, you don't need to create dozens of short time entries every time you switch tasks.
MinuteDock's Re-dock feature lets you instantly resume any previously logged entry, picking up right where you left off. This keeps your timesheet organized while accurately tracking time across different activities—perfect for those days when you're constantly switching between urgent client calls, ongoing projects, and quick administrative tasks.
Finding and Resuming a Logged Time Entry
To continue working on any time entry you've already logged, you'll use the Re-dock button. This moves your selected entry back to the Dock (the timer bar at the top of your screen) so you can continue tracking time against it.
Here's how to resume an entry:
Navigate to your Time screen by clicking Time in MinuteDock
Find and click on the time entry you want to resume (this puts it into edit mode)
Click the Re-dock button that appears in the edit view
Your timer starts automatically with all the same details (Contact, Project, Tasks, and description)
💡 Tip: If you already have an active entry in your Dock when you re-dock another entry, MinuteDock automatically logs the current entry first—so you won't lose any work.
The Re-dock button appears when you click to edit any logged time entry:
How Re-dock works for different dates
MinuteDock handles re-docking differently depending on when the original entry was logged, ensuring your timesheet stays accurate:
Resuming Today's Entries
When you re-dock an entry from today, MinuteDock moves the original entry back to your Dock and continues the timer.
This means you'll have one continuous entry for that task, keeping your daily timesheet clean and simple.
Example: You tracked 45 minutes on the Johnson Report this morning, took a break for meetings, and now want to continue. Re-docking combines your morning and afternoon work into a single entry.
Resuming Entries from Previous Days
When you re-dock an entry from a previous day, MinuteDock creates a new entry for today with the same Contact, Project, Tasks, and description.
The original entry stays on its original date, preserving your historical timesheet accuracy.
Example: Yesterday you spent 2 hours on the Smith Project proposal. Today you need to make revisions. Re-docking creates today's entry for the revision work while keeping yesterday's 2-hour entry intact.
ℹ️ Note: This copying behavior for previous days ensures your weekly and monthly reports accurately show when work was performed.
