Short codes

What Short Codes are and how to use them to quickly assign Contacts, Projects, and Tasks when tracking time

Updated yesterday

Short Codes act as both quick reference tags and display names for your Contacts, Projects, and Tasks throughout MinuteDock. They work like shortcuts that help you quickly assign the right details to your Time Entries without having to scroll through long lists.

Using Short Codes in the Dock/Live Timer

When tracking time using the live timer, you can quickly assign Contacts, Projects, and Tasks using these shortcuts:

  • Click into the main textbox of the timer

  • Type @ to select a Contact

  • Type # to select Projects and Tasks

As you type, MinuteDock will show you matching options.

For example, typing "@ACME" might bring up "ACME Corporation" in your Contact list.

💡 Tip: Short Codes are how you assign your Contacts/Project/Tasks to Time Entries - often it is simplest to have your Short Code match the name exactly
