Import Customers from MYOB

Learn how MinuteDock imports Customers from MYOB and follow steps to run a manual sync with MYOB or merge duplicate Contacts.

Updated over a week ago

After connecting MYOB to MinuteDock, your customer data will automatically sync as Contacts. This guide covers managing the ongoing sync process and resolving any duplicate contacts.

Understanding MYOB Customer Sync

Once your MYOB integration is active, MinuteDock automatically imports your MYOB customer list as Contacts. You can identify synced Contacts by the MYOB icon that appears next to them in the Contacts tab.

Important: MYOB controls the sync direction - changes made in MYOB will update MinuteDock Contacts, but changes made to MinuteDock Contacts will not affect your MYOB customers.

💡 Best Practice: Add new customers or edit existing customers in MYOB first, then run a manual sync to update your MinuteDock Contacts. This prevents duplicate Contacts from appearing.

Run a Manual Sync with MYOB

To manually sync your MYOB customers with MinuteDock Contacts:

  1. Update customers in MYOB - Make any changes to your MYOB customer list first.

  2. Access integration settings - Click the MYOB button in the top-right navigation bar.

  3. Start the sync - Click the sync now button on the integration settings screen.

  4. Confirm success - Wait for the page to reload. The sync is successful when "last synced" shows "less than a minute ago".

  5. Verify changes - Check your Contacts tab to confirm updates.

Success! New Contacts will be created for MYOB customers, and existing synced Contacts will update to match their MYOB counterparts.

Managing Duplicate Contacts

If you created Contacts manually before connecting MYOB, you may have duplicates - one synced with MYOB and one not synced.

Merging Duplicate Contacts

  1. Go to Contacts - Click the Contacts tab in MinuteDock.

  2. Find duplicates - Use the search bar to locate duplicate Contacts. Prioritize merging Contacts that are not synced with MYOB.

  3. Delete the duplicate - Click the red × icon next to the Contact you want to remove.

  4. Choose merge option - If the Contact has Time Entries, you'll be prompted to merge rather than delete.

  5. Select target Contact - Choose the MYOB-synced Contact as your merge target.

  6. Complete merge - All Time Entries from the deleted Contact will transfer to the Contact you're keeping

ℹ️ Note: Contacts without Time Entries will be deleted immediately. Contacts with Time Entries will always prompt you to merge, ensuring no Time Entries are lost.
