Import Customers from Wave

How to import customers from Wave into MinuteDock, merge duplicates, and run a manual sync to update customers.

Updated today

Importing your Wave Customer List

Once you have set up your integration connection, MinuteDock will automatically import your Wave customer list as Contacts.

You can see a given Contact in MinuteDock is synced to a counterpart in Wave by viewing the Contacts tab. Your synced Contacts will show a Wave icon (and a message that the Contact is 'synced with Wave' when hovering over that icon).

Syncing With Wave

Quick Summary

  • Automatic sync occurs once a day.

  • MinuteDock Contacts update with edits made to Wave customers.

  • Changes to Contacts will not affect customers in Wave.

  • Changes to customers in Wave will flow into MinuteDock.

In Detail

MinuteDock will automatically sync with Wave to update your synced Contacts (approximately once per day).

Edits to customers in Wave will flow into MinuteDock and update MinuteDock's Contacts when a sync occurs.

Wave takes priority in terms of customer information - changes made in Wave's customer settings will update MinuteDock Contacts, but changes made to MinuteDock Contacts will not update/edit your Wave customers.

We recommend that you add new customers or edit existing customers in Wave first, then run a manual sync to update your MinuteDock Contacts.

Run a Manual Sync with Wave

Quick Summary

1. Click 'Wave' button in MinuteDock to open integration settings.

2. Click 'sync now' button to run manual sync.

3. 'last synced' time will update to 'less than a minute ago' if successful.

4. Check Contacts tab in MinuteDock to verify changes.

In Detail

To run a manual sync with Wave to update your MinuteDock Contacts, use the following steps:

  1. First, make any updates to your customers or add new customers to your Wave customer list.

  2. Next, in MinuteDock, click the 'Wave' button at the top right of the page to go to your integration settings screen.

  3. On the integration settings screen, click the 'sync now' button to run a manual sync.

  4. Wait a moment for the sync to occur and your page to reload - you will know you have succeeded if you see the 'last synced' time update to 'less than a minute ago'.

If you check your MinuteDock Contacts tab, you should see your synced Contacts have updated to reflect edits made in Wave, and new synced Contacts have been created for new Wave customers.

Merge Duplicate Contacts

Quick Summary

1. Click 'Contacts' tab in MinuteDock.

2. Find duplicate contact (prioritize Contact not synced with Wave).

3. Click red cross icon on Contact.

4. Choose to 'merge' into other duplicate (prioritize merging into Contact synced with Wave).

5. Time Entries under removed Contact will now be under chosen 'merge' Contact.

In Detail

If you have created Contacts manually in MinuteDock before setting up your integration connection, you may find you have duplicate copies of Contacts in MinuteDock (only one of which is synced with Wave).

You can safely delete unsynced duplicates without impacting your data, if you have not logged time against the Contact.

If you have logged time, when you delete a Contact you'll see a prompt, asking if you wish to permanently delete the Contact, or instead merge the Contact into another existing Contact.

When you merge Contacts, all Time Entries from the deleted Contact transfer to the one you're keeping.

You can merge your unsynced duplicates with the Wave synced copies to ensure your logged Time Entries are under the relevant Wave customer.
