MinuteDock's Goals help you track time-based targets and stay within project budgets. This overview covers the basics - for detailed setup and management guides, see the related articles below.
What are Goals?
Goals help you track whether you're hitting your time or revenue targets or staying within project budgets. See your progress update automatically as you log Time Entries - no extra work required.
You'll find all your Goals on the Goals screen. Any Goals you pin will also appear on the Time screen for quick reference.
Types of Goals
MinuteDock offers two types of Goals to match different scenarios:
Target Goals are for objectives you want to reach or exceed, like monthly billable hours or quarterly revenue. These are considered good to exceed.
Budget Goals help you stay under a limit, perfect for fixed-price projects where you need to control total hours or costs. These are considered bad to exceed.
Creating and Managing Goals
Find all your Goals on the Goals screen. To create a new Goal, use the Add Goal screen where you can choose your Goal type and set up filtering.
You can filter your Goals by Contact, Project, Task, and date range - this works the same way as filtering in Reports. This lets you create specific Goals like "billable hours for Client ABC this month" or "total project costs for Project XYZ."
To pin a Goal for easy access, hover over it on the Goals screen and click the pin icon. Pinned Goals will appear on your Time screen so you can monitor progress while logging time.
Here's how your Goals appear on the Goals screen, showing progress bars and status indicators:
Your Goals update automatically each time you log a Time Entry, so you can see your progress in real-time without any extra work.
