Adding a New Goal

How to create and set up Goals to track time targets and budgets in MinuteDock.

Updated over a month ago

Goals help you track your progress or stick within a specific budget so you can keep on top of things and be more productive.

Each time you log an entry, your goals will be automatically updated with your latest progress.

Access the Goals screen

Head to the Goals screen and click 'Add goal' at the top right.

Set up your Goal

Goal Name: Enter a descriptive name for your Goal.

Goal Type: Choose Target (to reach/exceed) or Budget (to stay under).

Amount: Set your target number or budget limit in hours or money.

Configure filters

Use filters to specify which time entries count toward your Goal:

Users: Select specific team members or Roles whose time should count

Contacts: Choose which clients' work to include

Projects: Select specific Projects (if you use Projects)

Tasks: Choose specific Tasks (if you use Tasks)

Set time tracking options

Click Options to choose which time entries to count:

  • Billable time only: Count only billable time entries

  • All time: Count both billable and unbillable time entries

  • Unbillable time only: Count only unbillable time entries

Choose frequency

Select how often your Goal resets:

  • Daily: Resets each day at midnight

  • Weekly: Resets each Monday

  • Monthly: Resets on the 1st of each month

  • Quarterly: Resets every three months

  • Annual: Resets each January 1st

Create the Goal

Click 'Create Goal!' to save your Goal.

Success! Your Goal is now active and will appear on the Goals screen with a progress bar showing how close you are to meeting your target or going over your budget.

After creating a Goal

Goals automatically update as you log time entries. You can view progress on the Goals screen, and MinuteDock will show visual indicators when you're approaching or exceeding your targets and budgets.

Goals can also be pinned to the Time screen for easy visibility. Each Goal has pin options to display it for yourself, all users, or specific users.
