Export a Report as a spreadsheet (CSV)

Download the Time Entries or chart data in your Report as a CSV file to open in Excel or Google Sheets.

Once you've set up your Report, you can download the data as a CSV file to open in Excel, Google Sheets, or any other spreadsheet application. This is the export to use when you want to sort, filter, or reformat the numbers yourself.

The button is named Export Time because it exports every individual Time Entry in your Report, with every available field.

If you'd rather send or print a tidy timesheet, use Export Report to download a PDF instead — see Export a Report as a PDF.

Export the full Report

  1. Go to the Reports screen and set up your Report

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the Report and click Export Time

  3. Open the downloaded file in your spreadsheet application

The CSV includes every Time Entry matching your filters, with the Contact, Project, Task, date, User, duration, description, rate, billable amount, invoice details, and integration tracking information for each one.

Export a single chart

To export just one chart's data:

  1. Hover over the chart you want

  2. Click the CSV button in the corner of the chart

This downloads the summary data for that chart only — useful when you want the totals by User or by Contact rather than a line for every entry.

Choosing what to export

The Report you run determines what ends up in the file. A Report on Users' total hours for the month gives you a file that works well for payroll. Filtering by Contact, Project, or Task instead gives you a breakdown you can bill or analyse against. See Examples of Popular Reports.

ℹ️ Note: Hourly rate and amount data is only included for Users who have permission to see and edit billing rates.
