MinuteDock + Wave Overview

Quick overview of how MinuteDock integrates with Wave accounting software for invoicing.

Updated over a week ago

Connect MinuteDock to Wave to automatically sync customer data and create time-based invoices directly in your accounting software. This integration eliminates manual invoice creation and streamlines your billing workflow from time tracking to invoicing.

How the Wave Integration Works

The MinuteDock-Wave integration creates a seamless workflow between time tracking and invoicing. Once connected, your Wave customers automatically sync to MinuteDock as Contacts, allowing you to track time against them and generate invoices that draft directly into Wave.

Key Features

Customer Sync: Wave customers automatically import as MinuteDock Contacts, keeping your client data synchronized across both platforms.

Time-Based Invoicing: Convert your tracked time directly into draft invoices in Wave, with line items showing project details, hours worked, and billing rates.

ℹ️ Note: The integration syncs one Wave account at a time with your MinuteDock account. Wave customers sync to MinuteDock, but changes to MinuteDock Contacts won't affect your Wave customer data.

Important: Wave integration features require a paid Wave subscription. Wave's free plan doesn't support third-party integrations.

Getting Started with Wave Integration

Step 1: Connect Your Accounts

Set up the connection between MinuteDock and Wave by authorizing access through Wave's secure authentication process.

Step 2: Import and Manage Customers

Your Wave customers will automatically sync as Contacts in MinuteDock. Learn how to manage the sync process and handle any duplicate contacts.

Step 3: Track Time for Wave Customers

Record time against your synced Contacts using MinuteDock's time tracking features.

Step 4: Create and Send Invoices

Generate time-based invoices from your tracked hours and send them to Wave as draft invoices ready for review and sending.

What to Expect After Connecting

Successful Integration Indicators:

  • Wave customers appear as Contacts in MinuteDock with Wave icons

  • Time entries can be assigned to synced Contacts

  • Invoices sent from MinuteDock as draft invoices appear in your Wave account for final review

Your Workflow with Wave Integration

  1. Track Time: Log work hours in MinuteDock against your Wave customers (now synced as Contacts)

  2. Generate Invoices: Create invoices from your time entries with a few clicks

  3. Review in Wave: Draft invoices appear in Wave where you can make final adjustments

  4. Send to Clients: Use Wave's invoicing features to send professional invoices to your clients

💡 Best Practice: Let Wave handle customer information updates. Changes made in Wave will sync to MinuteDock, but editing Contacts in MinuteDock won't update your Wave customers.

Benefits for Your Business

Reduced Admin Time: Eliminate manual invoice creation and data entry between systems.

Improved Accuracy: Automatic sync reduces errors from manual data transfer.

Professional Invoicing: Leverage Wave's professional invoice templates and sending features.

Complete Time Billing: Generate comprehensive invoices from your tracked time entries.

Seamless Workflow: Move from time tracking to client invoicing without switching between multiple systems for data entry.
