Most teams keep one set of Tasks — #advisory, #bookkeeping, #admin — and use them across every client. When one client is charged differently for one of those Tasks, you don't need a separate Task for them. Set a Task-specific rate on that Contact instead.
Set a Task-specific rate on a Contact
Navigate to Contacts in the main menu.
Hover over the Contact and click the edit button.
Make sure Contact is billable is checked.
Scroll to Task-specific Rates and select the Task from the dropdown.
Enter the hourly rate that applies to this client for that Task.
Click + Add a task rate to override another Task, then click Save.
Time logged with that Task against that Contact now uses your new rate. The Task keeps its usual rate for every other client.
Set a Task-specific rate on a Project
The steps are the same from the Projects screen. Use this when the different rate only applies to one matter, job, or engagement rather than everything you do for that client.
ℹ️ Note: A Task-specific rate on a Project overrides one set on that Project's Contact.
Where this sits in the rate priority
A Task-specific rate set on a Contact or Project is the most specific rate in MinuteDock. It takes precedence over everything else, including a rate set for a specific User.

If a Time Entry has two Tasks whose rates sit at the same level, a $0.00 rate takes precedence over a charged rate.
Common ways to use this
A premium client. Your
#advisoryTask is $180/hr, but one client is on $220/hr. Set $220 on that Contact.Work included in a retainer.
#emailis billable for most clients, but included in one client's monthly fee. Set $0.00 on that Contact.A discounted project. One matter is being run at a reduced rate. Set the Task-specific rate on the Project rather than the Contact.
💡 Tip: Setting these rates needs permission to manage Contacts, Projects and Tasks, or to edit billing rates. If you can't see the Task-specific Rates section, check with your Admin.
