Generate professional invoices from your tracked time and send them directly to Wave as draft invoices ready for final review and sending to clients.
ℹ️ Note: This guide assumes you're familiar with MinuteDock's invoicing process. For complete step-by-step invoicing instructions, see our main invoicing guide.
💡 Tip: Before creating Wave invoices, ensure you have connected your Wave account to MinuteDock and that your MinuteDock Contacts have matching Wave Customers.
How Wave invoicing works
Creating invoices for Wave starts in MinuteDock, where you'll generate your invoice from recorded Time Entries and make any needed edits. When you send the invoice, it appears as a draft invoice in Wave against the corresponding Wave Customer (synced from your MinuteDock Contact).
In Wave, your invoicing branding and templates are automatically applied. You can then make further adjustments to the draft or send the completed invoice to your client - Wave handles the delivery and payment processing.
Starting your Invoice
Access the invoicing feature through the Invoices screen in MinuteDock. You can create invoices for Contacts with unbilled time or start a new invoice for any Contact.
Create a new invoice in MinuteDock using either the ready to invoice section or the +New Invoice button. Select your Time Entries and format your invoice lines as needed.
For detailed steps on starting invoices, selecting time entries, and formatting invoice lines, see our main invoicing guides.
Check your invoice currency
The currency you select on an invoice in MinuteDock needs to match a currency Wave can accept for that customer. If it doesn't, the invoice will fail to send and you'll see a "failed to send" message in MinuteDock.
You can confirm or change the currency on the final step of invoice creation, alongside the invoice number, date, and due date.
ℹ️ Note: Wave sets the invoice currency from the customer's currency. If you need to bill a client in a different currency, update the customer's currency in Wave before sending the invoice from MinuteDock.
