News & updates from the team at MinuteDock.
Goals are already a great way to keep an eye on project budgets, but they've always come with a couple of limitations: you have to set them up separately, and they can only track hours - not billable value.
Today we're announcing Budgets for Contacts & Projects. These can be set up as you're creating or managing a contact/project, and can be recurring (great for retainer-like arrangements), or track against a total. Even better, you can set these to be based on hours or billable value (using your configured hourly rate setttings).
Similar to how Goals work, Contact/Project budgets sit directly on the relevant card and show you a progress bar of how far through you are, making it super easy to keep track at a glance.
We're at Xerocon London next week, so it's a great time to release some much requested new features to our Xero integration: Tracking Category and Item support.
You can now apply Xero Categories and Items when sending an invoice.
Even better, this can all be automated. You can configure Xero settings on your Users, Contacts, Project and Tasks. This allows you to set defaults and situations where certain Items/Categories apply.
And, as an added bonus, you can now also customise the rules for how the ledger account is picked for you invoice lines.
If you generate a lot of invoices, this can save you a lot of time by having all of the item, account, and tracking categories automatically assigned based on your settings for your employees, contacts, projects or tasks.
Today - ahead of Xerocon London next week - we're launching the MinuteDock Partner Program for Accountants & Bookkeepers.
The Partner Program provides a dashboard for partner firms to manage and access their client's MinuteDock accounts. Additionally, Partners can be billed directly for any client accounts in one monthly bill - letting them bundle MinuteDock as a package to their clients through their existing arrangements.
The Partner Program also gives accounting/bookkeeping partners access to a free MinuteDock account for their firm once they bring on a handful of clients. A great little bonus!

A little Christmas bonus feature: You can now specify an hourly rate on a per user basis for contacts, projects and tasks.
This means you can easily handle situations where you want to bill different users at a different rate. Your rate rules will automatically flow through to invoicing and reports. Easy!
You may notice some changes: our website has been given a much needed fresh coat of paint.
We’ve also added a handful of testimonials from some of our awesome customers - a huge thank you to them.
We're thrilled to finally announce MinuteDock for iPhone - it's been a long time coming!
Now you have a streamlined and familiar way to track your time on the go, and it syncs in real-time with MinuteDock on the web.
It’s also really easy to add any time you forgot to track, straight from the iPhone app - super convenient when you're on the road.
We’ve made a bunch of improvements to our help center and revamped the look & feel. With tons of new help articles, you’ll always be able to find what you’re looking for.
We’re going to continue building out our help & training resources early next year, so let us know if you can’t find anything and we’ll make sure it gets included.
Today we're launching two new accounting integrations: Wave Accounting and MYOB Essentials.
Just like with our Xero, QuickBooks, and FreshBooks integrations, you can now sync across your clients and seamlessly generate invoices in Wave and MYOB. If you use Wave or MYOB, MinuteDock can really streamline your time billing workflow without impacting any of your existing invoice branding and payment handling processes.
One annoying limitation of Xero is that you can't specify whether a Contact is a Customer when creating them directly in Xero. This meant that MinuteDock had to either import all contacts (including the various auto-generated ones from bank reconciliation), or only Customers. We opted for the latter, but this meant that MinuteDock wouldn't import or link a Xero contact until it had an invoice created against it.
Today, we're launching the ability to choose exactly what Contact groups you want to import over from Xero - even custom groups!
Simply head over to the Xero tab at the top of MinuteDock, and you should select a section to customse your sync settings. Adjust those, click the 'Sync Now' button, and you're good to go!
Today we've released a couple of minor updates to both our Xero and QuickBooks Online integrations.
